A day to prepare businesses for the data-fuelled road ahead – Data Protection 2018.

See below for highlights from the DMA event, which took place in London’s Euston Square - featuring key insight and takeaways from leading industry figures.

Things kicked off with a foreword from DMA Group CEO Chris Combemale and a look at how the GDPR will change how you do business.

The ICO delivered the keynote address, with The Information Commissioner, Elizabeth Denham speaking on DP2018: Change is inevitable with the GDPR – but what about progress?

On from this, our panel took their seats to discuss the power of putting the consumer front and centre, with Robert Parker, the head of corporate affairs at the ICO, Fedelma Good, director at PwC and the DMA’s very own marketing director, Rachel Aldighieri.

Next up, our sponsors, OneTrust took to the stage with solution engineering lead, EMEA, Dave Horton leading on how to tackle consent and preference management under the GDPR.

Robert Streeter of News UK spoke next, giving a proportionate view on proceedings – putting the GDPR into perspective.

Turning to ASDA next, with Simon Hall considering bigger data metrics and a sense of fairness, inviting us to see the GDPR as a crossroads where risk meets opportunity.

Rounding off the morning, eBay’s Ben Westwood shared big company learnings with eBay and a global view of the GDPR.
